Privacy Policy

Effective 5 October 2026

The short version

Breïk doesn't collect personal data. There's no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Your settings and lists stay on your Mac. On the Mac App Store, Breïk's privacy label is “Data Not Collected”.

1. Who we are

Breïk is made by Raul Hernandez, an independent developer based in Indonesia (“we”, “us”). We are responsible for the small amount of personal data described in this policy. You can reach us at hello@raulhg.com.

2. What Breïk doesn't collect

The Breïk app does not collect, store on our servers, sell or share:

  • your name, email address or any account details (there is no account);
  • usage analytics, advertising identifiers or tracking data;
  • location, contacts, calendar, photos, files, audio or video;
  • health or fitness data.

Breïk contains no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking software, and it does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

3. What stays on your Mac

To work, Breïk keeps a few things locally in its own app container on your Mac: your settings (such as break interval and sound), your exercise lists and favourites, your break counts and, during the free trial, which Plus exercises you've tried (for the summary at the end of the trial). This information never leaves your Mac and is never sent to us. macOS keeps it in Breïk's container folder, which can stay behind when you drag the app to the Trash; to remove it too, delete the folder named Breïk in ~/Library/Containers.

4. Meeting detection

If you turn on “Don't interrupt during meetings”, Breïk asks macOS, on your Mac, whether any app currently has an active audio input, as a call does, so it can hold a break until the call ends. This is a read-only status check. Breïk does not capture, record or listen to any audio, does not need microphone permission, and does not store or send this information anywhere.

5. Purchases and the free trial

Breïk Plus and the 7-day trial are in-app purchases processed by Apple through the App Store. Apple handles your Apple Account and payment details; we never receive your name, email address or payment information. Apple gives developers aggregated, de-identified sales reports, which we use to understand how Breïk is doing. Apple's handling of your data is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.

6. Ratings and diagnostics

Breïk may occasionally show Apple's standard prompt to rate the app. Ratings and reviews are handled entirely by Apple.

If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in macOS (System Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements), Apple may share crash reports and de-identified diagnostic data with us. We use these only to fix bugs. You can turn this off at any time in the same place.

7. When you contact us

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to send. We use it only to reply and to help you, keep it only as long as needed for that, and delete it sooner if you ask. We don't add you to any mailing list.

If you use Send Feedback in Breïk, your email app opens a draft that ends with one line describing your Breïk setup: timer settings and status, which features are switched on, how many lists you have and how many breaks you've done, whether you use Breïk Plus, the Breïk and macOS versions, your Mac's model and your language. It contains nothing you've typed, such as list names. You can read it, edit it or delete it before sending; it only reaches us if you send the email.

8. This website

This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party scripts or fonts. If you switch between dark and light appearance, your choice is saved in your own browser's local storage and is never sent to us. Like any website, our hosting provider may process standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested) to keep the site secure and running.

9. Children

Breïk is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children.

10. Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to tell you what personal data we hold about you, to correct it or to delete it, and to stop using it. Many privacy laws give you these rights, including US state laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act, the EU and UK GDPR, and Indonesia's Personal Data Protection Law; we give them to everyone. Because Breïk collects no personal data, the only data we might hold about you is a support email. To use any of these rights, email hello@raulhg.com; we'll reply within 30 days and won't treat you differently for asking. Where a law requires a legal basis for handling data, ours is our legitimate interest in answering your messages and keeping this website secure and running.

You can withdraw any choice at any time: switch off “Don't interrupt during meetings” in Breïk's Settings, stop sharing analytics with developers in System Settings, and ask us to delete any email you've sent.

We do not sell or share personal data. The only services that ever handle any of the data in this policy are Apple (purchases, ratings and, if you allow it, crash reports), our email provider and our web host. We only use providers that protect personal data at least as well as this policy does.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, please tell us first. You can also complain to the data protection authority or consumer protection agency where you live.

11. Keeping and deleting data

  • On your Mac: kept until you delete Breïk's data (see section 3).
  • Support emails: kept only as long as needed to help you, or deleted on request.
  • Purchase records: held by Apple under Apple's policies.

12. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update it on this page and change the effective date above. If a change means Breïk would start collecting any data, we'll say so clearly in the app's release notes before it takes effect.
